Albany, GA -- Basset Hound mix "Snoopy" is a ten-year-old, female, tri color/mostly black on back, heart worm negative, 43 lb., sweet and gentle girl. She loves children and other dogs. She arrived at the Albany Humane Society as a stray, so there's little history on her. She's a special girl, though, and really would make a wonderful family dog. Athens, GA -- Buddy and Blue, a bonded pair -- There are some dogs who touch the hearts of all those who come across them. At the Athens shelter, Blue (33109) and Buddy (33110) are two such sweet and gentle dogs. They have lived their entire lives together and would prefer to stay together. But, it would be better that they live separately rather than die together....which they will do unless adopted VERY soon. Female Blue (bottom photo) is a sweet spayed mix who is charming and gentle. She and her brother, Blue, were adopted from the Athens shelter almost 9 years ago. They act like puppies, always smiling and romping. They walk together on a Y ring and never pull or drag. These dogs are healthy and have a long life ahead of them, and they will fit in easily with your lifestyle. They are quiet and gentle, good with kids, and past the potty training or chewing stage. They are so good you will wonder how you ever lived without them. Seniors who want companionship will find Blue and Buddy to be happy to sit while you knit, read, watch television or practice your yoga! Please save them. Animal Control can be reached by phone at 706 613-3540 or fax 706-613-3545.

Kinnesaw, GA -- Mostly Mutts has a very sweet 11+ year old Doxie mix ready for adoption. Bessie was loved and loving in a foster home -- is perfectly housetrained and follows her foster mom devotedly. Unfortunately, Bessie's foster mom can no longer keep her. Here's some more info from Bessie herself: "I am in need of a very special family. Not many people want an older dog but we need homes just as much as puppies do. As an older dog, I'm really easy to look after and would love to take afternoon naps with you. I would be best in a home with few stairs because of my short legs and my age. I get along OK with other dogs, cats and kids but would really be most happy in a home without them. I am not a lap dog; however, I will follow you around and I do like to be petted behind my ears and to lie by your side. I would be perfect for a retired couple. I am heartworm positive, have a small tumor on my chest, am a bit hard of hearing...in other words, I'm in need of an angel. Are you that angel? Email adopt@mostlymutts.org Phone 770-325-7387

Canton, GA -- Tiny Schnauzer "Trudi" is so cute and a sweetheart. She's been groomed and is now up to date with all her shots. This beautiful dog was neglected and in much need of love. She's around ten, but she's healthy and has a lot of good years ahead of her. After kids came into the household, her family decided she wasn't wanted any longer. Contact:Gette369@windstream.net |
| Dogs on Death Row |
Dogs on Death Row This organization rescues dogs in imminent danger of being euthanized -- by arranging for financial sponsors, foster homes, or medical care that will ultimately make the dogs adoptable. Another major objective of the organization is to create awareness of the need to eliminate the use of gassing and heart-prick methods of euthanizing -- both of which are inordinately painful to the animals and inhumane. The organization has headquarters in Larkspur, CA, but works closely with Georgia shelters to help find homes for Georgia's homeless dogs. |
