Success Stories

York, South Carolina -- Astro... a 10-year-old Basset in good health, with all his shots and heartworm negative.

Adoption Report:

September 2000 -- Astro's foster family wrote, " Due to the ad on the srdogs site, Astro has been adopted! Your senior postings work! Thanks again.... June."

Sheboygan, WI -- Maddie....a 12-year-old, female, tri-color, purebred Basset.... about 50lbs. and currently on an exercise program to get her into shape. She may have a little gray on her sweet face, but Maddie has a youthful spirit. She loves to play, ride in the car, visit the pet supply store, and is learning to love walks.

Adoption Report:

Basset Buddies, Muskego, WI, wrote: "Thank you for picturing Maddie and Cleo (the Basset girls) on your website. Thanks to your help, they have both found WONDERFUL forever homes! I will certainly continue to use your site, as it is a GREAT resource! Thanks again, Charity Peffer"

Sheboygan, WI -- Cleo.... an 11-year-old, female, tri-color Basset. Her family had to give her up because it was too hard for them to take care of both Cleo and their elderly (and at times confused) grandma.

Portland, Oregon -- Maggie .... 9-year-old, 60 lb. Walker Coon Hound .... may be the most delicious older dog ever dumped by an uncaring family. She was noticed, shivering and forlorn, at the local animal shelter, looking very "unadoptable" (not a good way to appear at a kill facility).

Adoption Report:

May 2001 -- "Thanks to you, Maggie's been adopted! Many, many thanks to all of you who do such a fabulous job with this site. Best, K. Levine"

West Virginia - Alabama -- "Buddy".... senior Catahoula Leopard Dog, found as a stray in West Virginia.... rescuer Cyndy Basile tried to keep him out of the shelter, but could not house him.... animal control got him and slated him for euthanasia....

Adoption Report:

March 2000 -- Laurie Hall, 670 miles away in Alabama saw Buddy on the srdogs site and offered a home.... volunteers drove to meet her in Chattanooga. Cyndy wrote: "He made it out of the kill shelter and 670 miles to Alabama. Love is the miracle that made all of this possible."

San Francisco, CA -- "Jessie" ..... 8-year-old German Shepherd..... wandered on her own into the shelter to deliver her pups.... was due to be euthanized.

Adoption Report:

April 2000

The Senior Dogs Project issued a news release to local San Francisco TV stations. The item on the news went straight to Shirley Mercado's heart.... Shirley says Jessie is the sweetest dog (shown in the photo with her new, good friend, "Chance").
